Dear Humboldtians,
The March 1 deadline for our new initiative RISE—Research Internships
in Science and Engineering—is approaching and I would like to draw
your attention again to this new program which offers internships at
German universities and research institutions such as the famous Max
Planck Institutes to students in the fields of chemistry, biology, physics,
earth science, and engineering. We have received 366 offers from German
PhD students who would like to host a student from the US or Canada for
the summer—a number that shows how interested these German doctoral
students are in working with undergrads from North America. DAAD will
be able to offer at least 66 fellowships and we hope that, with the support
by sponsors, we will be able to increase the total number of fellowships to
100. It would be a pity if we would not find enough eligible candidates for
these positions. Therefor, I would be grateful if you could once again
remind your students to register by sending a short email to Gabi Knieps
at knieps@daad.de. They will then receive a password which will enable
them to search through all the internships in our online database. They
will have to apply until March 1 and each applicant may apply for up to
three positions. Detailed information and reports of past participants are
available on our website at www.daad.de/rise/en. It would be great if we
could welcome your students to Germany this summer and I thank you for
helping us get the word out!
Best wishes
Christian Schaefer
